As in many cities across America, Lawrence Kansas faces an affordable housing crisis. Developers continue to look for cheap land along the perimeter of the city reinforcing the ever present suburban sprawl. The development at 11th and Haskell includes 8 lots once used as a junk yard. 1204 E 12th St is a speculative house inspired by the mid century case study homes that exist throughout Lawrence. Using local materials and capitalizing on the open views of the site, 1204 E 12th provides a place of harmony in what was once a scrap heap.
